How to send an active link
In the first message to an unknown number WhatsApp shows links and phone numbers as plain text. They become clickable once the recipient replies or adds your number to their contacts, and on some phones only after reopening the chat. That is why campaigns end with a line like: reply with any character to activate the link.
Links and numbers in the text on the first sent WhatsApp message are not active and are shown as plain text.
For the link to become clickable, the user has to reply to the message or add our contact to their address book. On some phones the user also has to re-enter the chat.
In most broadcasts the end of the message says: "Reply with any character to activate the link"; "Reply 'Yes' to activate the link"; "To activate the link, reply OK and re-open the chat"; and so on.
